Ok, I'm feeling like an utter newbie right now, however, coming from Slackware to try out Debian, the installer was, IMHO, absolute horrid shit. I could not get it to work well at all. Does anyone here know of a very good tutorial for installing Debian Sarge?

.::Edit::. Also, that /dev/ide whatever confuses me to all heck (used to /dev/hda style). Can anyone provide me a mapping guide for /dev/hdaX# to /dev/ide whatever?
.::Edit 2::. I tried doing a net-install using only Disk 1 as suggested by a buddy, however, it didn't work out too well :X
Ugh. I stopped reading it initally as all the small useless details fended me off and confused me. I really don't need as much detail as that provides. Thus, I'm looking for something simple to follow.

I cannot fathom how one could master a Slackware install yet stumble on Sarge. Sarge is so easy, one could practically hit enter at every prompt and have a running system at the end. Did you know the Ubuntu installer is based on a Sarge release candidate and that thousands upon thousands of so-called newbies have installed it on their Windows PCs? Did you bother to look for documentation or decide to insult first and expect help later? Fortunately for you, there are kind people with thick skin on this board and you have already received the advice you need. However, I must slap your fingers.
Honestly, I failed horribly at doing it the first time, however, my greatest thanks to ToastedToad for the help, I shall try again sometime soon.
As for towjamb, you must try and think about this in another view, however I do admit you are partially correct in your perception. At what feels 3am in the morning, due to many nights of little sleep, after cursing at your system hysterically out of frustration at that apt screen or whatever, one misses stickies and such as one is often not thinking.
However much so, I did admit that you are correct, as I should've stepped back and looked, and for that, my apologies for opening another thread.

Anyways, thanks for the help.
