Debian hangs at pre-install screen
When I boot from a CD and press enter at the "boot:" prompt, at the next screen, where the kernel is looking for my computer's hard drives, the screen hangs at this message:
ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14 I have no clue why the install is hanging. Does anybody have an idea how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance. |
Check your BIOS settings, make sure it boots from the cd first, then read these
postings from google: http://www.google.com/linux?q=%22ide...utf-8&oe=utf-8 |
Ok, I set my BIOS so that it boots from the cd, then floppy, then the hard drive. I still get the same problem.
If it helps, im trying to install this on a SATA drive. I have two SATA drives in my computer, and i'm planning to dual boot. |
at the prompt, press the Fn keys for help or different kernels, see if there is kernel for this type of hd.
google for debian installation on sata drives. |
Will do. Thanks anway.
