Debian Etch Half Network Problem

ok this is going to sound extremely weird... but hopefully someone will have an answer...

I have just recently reinstalled Debian "etch" and i'm having a very annoying network problem...

Just about every time i restart the computer (from a completely working state)... my internet connection only half works... as in some things work and some don't... i am posting this on my other debian machine that i'm vnc'd into because most sites won't work on my actual machine...

so this shows that there is no problem with my internet connection... it is something with debian...

i can sometimes fix it by rewriting my /etc/network/interfaces file... but then again that doesn't always work either... i tried to remove it and recreate it with one of the gnome gui programs (tried the kde one but it just crashed)... and it is still not working.. but i seem to have full LAN capabilities

any ideas???

how can i run the debian network config program like what is run during the net install?? is this possible?

Can you describe what works and what doesnt?

its mainly different internet sites that work and some dont...

i have full LAN capabilities... but the internet stuffs up... yet it works fine on all sites on my other debian box...

if i change my IP address it seems to fix it... but i don't want to have to do this every time i start my pc

i have a feeling its a router issue... but its strange that the other pc's (1 debian and 1 windows) work fine with everything...

Is it only websites that are not loading? If so what browser are you using?

If its Firefox try creating a new profile.

no its not just firefox that has the problem... its torrents as well

all sites that load perfectly fine on my other pc's don't load on mine... unless i change my IP address... then it fixes it...
