debian apt-get upgrade error

I have a laptop and a desktop both running Debian Sarge. I haven't done an apt-get upgrade on either for a while, so when I ran apt-get upgrade (from the unstable repositories), it took a while, but seemed to be fine.

Now neither one of the machines starts X. I was using KDE on the desktop and Openbox on the laptop. I'm getting an error 11 code for both of time in the Xorg log. Is there a reason this is happening all of the sudden? What exactly got upgraded or changed to stop X?

If you upgraded from Sarge using the Unstable repos then your X got changed from XFree86 to Xorg. You might just need to reconfigure your X settings.

The basic information is provided by the following command.
You would supply the more detailed specs of your graphics hware.

# dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

xorg

I had already been running xorg server. My configurations were stored in the Xorg file in /etc/X11 instead of the xfree86. I got the xorg package awhile back while it was in development. I'll try what you said.
