How do I get rid of version 2.8 to install the normal sid version? I just did apt-get remove gnome* and deleted the experimental and other gnome source from my sources.list but apt complains about unknown dependencies now if I do apt-get install gnome

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
nautilus: Depends: libbonoboui2-0 (>= 2.5.4) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libeel2-2 (>= 2.6.2) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgnome-desktop-2 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgnome2-0 (>= 2.6.1.1) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgnomeui-0 (>= 2.6.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgnomevfs2-0 (>= 2.6.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libnautilus2-2 (>= 2.6.3) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: librsvg2-2 (>= 2.7.2) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: capplets (>= 2.6) but it is not going to be installed

I've been using Ubuntu since I read about it right when the first preview release was announced. It's been great. First Linux distro I've tried that worked right from the start. Gnome 2.8 is great too. I like the spatial navigation.
