Good old fumble thumbs method of typing is, at least, good for a laugh now and then.

I think I will edit that.

On the other hand I guess editing the title is out of the question so folks can just point and laugh.

If you want you can edit the title, just press the Edit button, as you would normally do and then press the Go Advanced button. This will show up a box with the title, so that you can edit it.

2915 is the year of the Linux Desktop, sadly it's just before "The Event!".

IMHO, it will have gone the way that everything in computing sooner or later goes: it will be replaced by something better, not only Debian, but every distro. As changes in computing paradigm and available hardware resources made the advent and rise of UNIX and later Linux possible, at some point in the future similar changes (maybe quantum computing, maybe something else) will cause Linux to be replaced with something that fits better for future hardware and computing paradigms.
Well, maybe there will be a small village somewhere where people still use Slackware, but the world will move on as we have moved from room-filling computers to personal computers to powerful mobile devices.

Jessie Release Date: 2015-04-25

The "mm-dd-yyyy" thing always throws me a little (I'm used to yyyy-mm-dd), but seeing 2915 in the year position somehow meant my brain didn't even parse it as a date - it looked to be some sort of alpha, beta or RC code. :-)

Glad to know it can be edited. Don't think I will.

Seems to be entertaining.

I wonder if Linux finally taking over the desktop market is what will precipitate "The Event!"

Yeah. Debian releases "when it's ready."

Hey guys, will there be new kernel in testing and Sid after Jessie released? The version stucked @ 3.16 for a little while when 4.0 it's out and I'm pretty worried 'bout the Debian's kernel team, since they droped the rt kernels.

Yes, once the freeze ends at the end of the month they may even jump to version 4.0

Debian has been "stuck" on 3.16 because the Debian team concentrates on getting the next Stable release ready during the freeze.
