Hi,

I think people will need more information if they are to help. So here are some questions.

What do you mean by "sleep"? This could potentially mean suspend to disk or suspend to ram? How was it put into this state?

What do you mean by "didn't want to wake up"? Are there any other problems other than the keyboard and mouse not working? Can you ssh to the box to look at the logs etc?

HI,

Sorry that was not meant to be posted. I had started to write it when I thought I should check some things further before sending. However I got called away and when I returned the post that I was working on was gone and I was logged out. I didn't realise that it had been sent.

I am not very familiar with Debian, it doesn't seem to work for me. My first try some 12 years back was impossible to comprehend and it couldn't even find it's own hard drive to boot.

I still want to try some things but I used the "log out" "sleep" option.

I have tried a different usb port for keyboard/mouse but it made no difference. I want to try another keyboard and other usb ports but am fairly sure it will make no difference. This install replaces a Debian 5 one on previous motherboard but using the same hard drives. New keyboard/mouse are usb as previous were ps2 and this board doesn't take both with ps2.

Hi,

ok, I understand what you mean by "sleep" now, but can you answer my other questions? Here they are again:

What do you mean by "didn't want to wake up"? Are there any other problems other than the keyboard and mouse not working? Can you ssh to the box to look at the logs etc?
