Thanks to every one here for your patience and generosity. My brain has been scattered all over the place recently. Even after thrawlling my previous threads several times I could't find the Flash player solution, mistakingly thinking that was for the 32 bit fix.
Having said that, craigevil's link provided a much easier to follow solution. So both Flash and real player are not working.
I suppose it just me who doe's find it easy to find answers on the official Debian site when compared to Slackware book. I have used the Debian's seach utility for Flash several times which lead me down a blind ally. I guess if I am going to use Debian I better get used to whats on offer.
Regarding the mounting issue, here is what I have found from another post.
Code:
If a device is not being mounted during boot, it may be b/c the driver for that device has not been loaded yet at the time that /etc/fstab is read
(and thus the device is not active yet and doesn't get mounted). If you want to make sure it gets mounted during boot, you may need to take a look
at the boot sequence for your distro and make changes as needed. Another thing you could try is adding a "mount" command of your own to one of
your boot scripts.
Most distros provide a file with a name like "rc.local" which gets executed late in the boot process and can be used to add your own custom commands to execute during boot
Maybe someone could help me expand on that. Does that mean I remove /hdc1 and the cowon from fstab, then create a mount script in /etc/rc.local?
Or do I leave fstab as is in addition to creating the script?
