Debian 3.1, minimum CD(s) for installation

Hello

I wonder how many installation CDs is require to install Debian 3.1 to a considerable usable state, base system + a few apps in various catagories+ some simple Window Managers, aka a good allround system without too much bloat.

Thanks,

Thanks,

If you have a fast and reliable internet connection, then you only need to burn one installation CD and do the rest from the net. Mind you, I have got DSL, which is throttled by verizon at about 180kbps. At this speed it takes about 2.5 hours for a full 'desktop' install; maybe a bit more. Anyway, i THINK you can install a less bloated configuration starting from the same CD.

give a try..!

Great :-) , but how about an offline install, since I prefered to download ISO and burn everything I need for installation myself. How many CDs do I need in that case?

Thanks,

Everything you need for a complete desktop is on the first 2 CD's.
