Similar for me (however, I have only headphones). There is no sound, but pavucontrol "playback" detects it (visual presentation follows the music). My setup:

Sound worked in Debian 9.x, but not in 10.x (after upgrade).

Is your configuration profile (pavucontrol configuration tab) set correctly? Nothing muted?

None of the profiles is muted. HDMI is not of my interest anyway.
For "Family 17h" all options have been tried out but none worked (just selected the option and hoped for the sound to appear after few seconds in the headphones)

Sorry for the long delay in posting. I believe my problem to be hardware related. I backed up my linux, re-installed the original windows that came with the machine and had the same issues with the sound. Thanks everyone for your assistance.
