Debian [sarge] installation

Hello everyone,

I'm installing the stable version of sarge on my computer and already has windows. I've installed ubuntu several times and it's the same installation system it seems but when the installation comes to "searching through CD" it takes ages, it's 14 % now and it has runned in about 30 min or so, that ain't right?

I've downloaded debian sarge ISO file #1 and copied the image to an cd with daemon-tools (D-tools) and Nero. No failures during burning process or anything.

That is the file i downloaded: htttp://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/3.1_r0a/i386/iso-cd/debian-31r0a-i386-binary-1.ISO

I run on AMD Athlon XP 2600+ 512 MB DDR

i'd check the md5sums first.

in addition, consider to download the iso('s) with jigdo, it checks the sums automatically at the end. i did it like that myself (using windows). it's really self-explaining, i had no problems & saw jigdo for the first time.

I agree. Your computer taking that long to search the CD is a little rediculous. 30 minutes is more than enough time for a computer of that speed to complete the whole installation. There has to be something wrong with the media.

Thank you for your answers!

What i did was to run the 2.6 installation instead and it worked.

Typing linux26 when booted with the net_install disk.

Everything worked fine.

Thank you anyway

And yes, something with the media i suppose :/
