Howdy all.
I'm having issues with a custom Bootstrapped Debian Etch installation. The bootstrapped Debian is Debian Etch 4.0r5, for CoburnOS Server Edition (a custom debian-based distro, made by myself). I'm trying to get USB drives set up, but it's failing.
The kernel is from Tiny Core Linux (latest 2.x version). The IDE is a DiskOnModule, 256MB. Therefore I'm going barebones (I've squeezed my Debian Etch from ~110MB to 97MB).
I'm using MS-DOS to boot into Linux via LinLD, a extended version of LoadLin that works for 2.6.x kernels. Therefore, on boot, MS-DOS (from Windows 98) boots, and then LoadLin boots the TC kernel, kicks MS-DOS out the window, taking me to the wonderful screens of flowing text as the kernel boots my custom Debian. I know I should really use GRUB, but I'm lazy... :P
When I'm logged in as root, I insert my USB Drive (which I'll be using for Server Storage) and I get the following:

At the command line, I do the following:
# mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
....and that responds:
mount: cannot mount /dev/sda1 (No such file or directory)
Strange. I possibly haven't mounted usbfs or whatnot (silly me), but the kernel does look at the device, says hello to it, supposedly makes it accessable with /dev/sda* but mount fails with that error. Could MSDOS be a issue?
Any ideas?
