critical updates

Is there an easy and simple way to setup apt(itude) so that only critical_security_updates are installed?

for eg, I don't want to update LibreOffice Writer if there is newest font,

but update stuff like SAMBA or Icewasel, proftpd..

Hi,

Are you looking for this:

System -> Administration -> Update Manager (log in as root) -> Settings -> Updates tab : Un-Check "Proposed updates" and leave "Security updates" checked.

Hope this helps.

hm, thanks druuna. I had always used aptitude or synaptic.
Update manager seems a good way to do the updates, it can also download them in background.
