Creating debian themes

Ok,

So I am really tired of KDE, not a big fan of the gnome look and the massive amount of desktop icons I have. Things are unorganized IMO. I want to create my own set of themes. For instance

A 3D desktop environment. instead of clicking on a desktop to go to a different desktop I want my mouse or keyboard to do that with a key-combo or a scroll of my mouse on the desktop etc. Icons, sort of like rocketdock or AWM etc, but different in ways that combine the two, have a look and feel that is best suited for me. Launchers, commands, icons. I like the transparency feel of some of the themes I have been seeing online via screenshots and the fonts, some I would change, others I wouldnt mind having similar concepts, art work, gadgets. The taskbar I would want to get rid of.

What would i need to create themes? I have only seen screenshots of how customizable Linux can be, I want to see how much of it I can customize it to be a perfect DE for me.

Thanks

what themes you want to create? i guess not gkt2-themes, right?
you want to change the look and feel of your desktop? all what you say is offered here and there: as an example: fluxbox may run with semi-transparency or xcompmgr. you are rid of the desktop-icons and you are rid of the taskbar.
I guess thats not what you want. So, what to do? Stick with any wm or environment and make it the way you like it.
remove the taskbar, remove the icons, set up some shortcuts, add the linsta-theme from gnome-look and thats it. or not?

here is a link of a fellow who set up his icewm the way he likes it:
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=40059
That is quite different from how it comes (if one likes it is another question). But it takes its time. In each environment.

perhaps (i say: perhaps) have a look at e17 and play with advanced settings. in the beginning it might look klutzy. i use it for a year now and am far from knowing its settings. for me a wm is there for open some w_indows. a shot of my e, short after install (icons are not set yet). background is animated. the modules may be permanent on the screen or when hitting ctrl+alt+g

If you think you like it look in e.g. OpenGeu for what one might do with it.

or learn p_rogramming.

yes, like craigevil said. but there is a how-to setup the clock:
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=39744
and an example for Xdefaults:
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.p...art=15#p234772
you might have a look through his posts, i dont use icewm so i dont remember if there is more to be found.
best might be to pm him or hope that he will post them. if yes i will let you know (in case you miss it).
