Creating custom install CD's
I am trying to find some info on creating a decent installation CD tailored to the machines I run Debian on. Knoppix is pretty much out of the question since it's not really Debian. What I'm looking for is pretty much a souped up netinstall CD, like Dave Kimdon's netinstall bootbf2.4 CD ( but with a full development environment, including vim, gcc-3.3, make, etc. I would prefer using packages from Sarge but I guess I could live with having Woody packages on it.

I have downloaded the debian-cd package from CVS and read the docs but it looks like it's focused at creating official Debian CD's, or at least semi-official ones. I just want a small installation CD with some bells and whistles to be able to install the packages my different machines need and to compile the drivers for them.

You probably need to investigate cloning.

Don't know if this will be of any help but take a look here:

Remember, getting old is manditory, gowing up is optional!
