Creating an installer backup from current installation

Hey there, I have an old PIII which needs a driver. I would like to create a custom installer CD that will automatically install my current set up, in case I break anything. That way I can play around with it and not need to worry about breaking anything. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks in advance,

I use partimage to create an image of the Linux boot partition onto an external disk. Then if you need to restore you can boot a live CD such as System Rescue CD ( to restore the image to the disk. If you have put your /boot directory on its own partition then you will want to make an image backup of that as well.
