create a new user with a different home directory
hi
I have debian etch.
howto create a new user with a different home directory, for example in /var/users ?

"man adduser". Have a look at the "--home" switch.

man usermod
on debian it's something like:

You can just edit the relevant entry in /etc/passwd. Best way to do that is using "vipw"
