I have a remote machine that is a file server and a web server. I admin it via Webmin and SSH.
About once every 24-hours, it locks up and I don't know why. Where should I start? Is there a log file for crashes?
This is a little frustrating for me since I spent a lot of time upgrading this from Windows because I had to reboot windows once every 10 days and now I have to reboot every day.
Did you check the logfiles, is there a pattern, were you using the same commands/programs when the freeze happened? Did you eliminate the possibility of hardware failure? etc.
Debian Woody 2.2.20-idepci - It's a fresh install (Saturday) and I have not added any Cron jobs. If there are any there, they were put there by the installer.
As far as hardware failure..... This was running fine (but slow) as a Window's server. The only thing done to it was to blow out the dust right before the installation of Woody.
As far as log files.... ummmm.... Well..... ummm..... that's what I'm asking you guys.... Where do I start (Where are they)? I don't see anything but the normal system logs.
