cpudyn, alsa, acpi

any idea if ALSA playback when using cpudyn (or any of the other dynamic throttling daemons) will ever be able to be glitch free when the cpu's throttling ?

Inspiron 8200, M50A12 BIOS and a host of goodies

I use acpi/cpudyn w/ alsa on my centrino lappy w/ sid without problems on audio playback (music & movies through mplayer). I suppose you use 2.6.x kernels...
One thing I found on audio cards based on intel8x0 (my lappy & nforce2-based desktop) is that they add lots of fuzz when vol/pcm are >94, so consider lowering their mixer volumes as another option.

will change pcm setting, or rather check it...

for s/n (signal/noise ratio) reasons, volumes are usually set at about 70-80% of max volume. Enough to leave headroom and have good signal/noise ratio and having enough signal to push throughout chain.

still will check though
volumes never really high

have checked with apm, no probs

What laptop u got...make n model, specs, blah blah blah

i use dell 8200 w/M50 BIOS A12 (docking station requirement, otherwise standard i200 BIOS would suffice)

oh yeah, it stumbles on playback on all playback when throttling, even when the kde load and process indicator is playing its little music

thanx, also include some kernel configs if u think necessary

Acer TM291LMi running sid-current & 2.6.6 (without pre-empt) & laptop-mode (check kernel's docs).
For the "stumbling" problems you mention you could also check pre-empt. However I don't like/use it for various other reasons .
