configuring package manager when installing lenny
Hi everyone;)
I am trying to set up the package manager when installing lenny in expert mode....LOL Anyway, I get the configure the package manager part of the install and choose ftp for my protocol. I then try to add my local debian archive mirror hostname - which is ftp.sunet.se. I then try to add a Debian archive mirror directory, but keep getting the red flag?!! I am probably missing something simple but could do with some help. Can someone take a stab at this for me. bookie |
What's the error message?

Hi AlucardZero;)
I get the following error: Bad archive mirror The specified Debian archive mirror is either not available, or does not have a valid Release file on it. Please try a different mirror. For my host name I choose ftp.sunet.se ....if that is the right way to add it and then I can't find the right combination to the Debian archive mirror directory? It brings up that error every time. bookie |
Hi again, I F3 to a shell and tried the following address but no dice:
ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/distrib...n/dists/lenny/ even tried: http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/distri...n/dists/lenny/ Keeps saying that ftp.sunet.se is a bad address?! bookie |
you sure it's connected to the internet and is getting an IP and DNS server information?
|
Hi AlucardZero,
Can't be hundred procent certatain. Have setup my firewall to allow dhcp to the computer in question and when I ran F4 it showed the ip address was still active. If I do the standard install - it gives me the option of choosing a mirror and then the installer does the rest without problems. Maybe I am adding the info wrongly. Just wondered if someone could give me a typical scenario for adding mirror and pointing to right directory? The strange thing is when I add the info and then check F4 it is showing wget trying to connect to some directory I haven't added? Just wanted to try the expert way to get more variables to play with...LOL bookie |
