Configuring a Wacom Graphire Tablet to track like a tablet (not like a mouse)

Greetings,

I have Debian Linux Woody upgraded to Sarge (kernel 2.4.18 bf2.4) installed with KDE 3.1.4. All is working very well except that my Wacom Graphire tablet tracks like a mouse (relative to screen) and I would like to configure it to track like a graphic tablet pen (absolute to screen). I modified the XF86Config-4 file according to the Wacom USB Mini HOWTO that I found on The Linux Document Project web site, only to have it not work at all. This was the only information that I've found anywhere addressing this issue and it was dated July, 2001.

I would very much appreciate a hand with this, my tablet is useless to me tracking like this and since I have been using it for years, I would like it to behave as it always did when I used MS Windows. I have learned quite a bit about Linux in the last several weeks, especailly where to find answers to my questions but this one is totally alluding me.

Thanks ahead of time for the help!
Gail

Yeah, it would involve somehow modifying XF86Config-4. I'm not sure exactly how though. If you still have the problem, repost this at the Linux-Hardware forum here. The linux-distros-debian forum doesn't get much activity especially over issues like this :-) . Oh, and you have to learn Linux forum etiquette - no using the w!@#!$ows swear word - especially not capitalized. Use winblows, windoze, or some other variant like that. :-)

Have you found any more articles on how to get this working? I have a similar tablet, which the kernel has some optional support for, but i don't know how to set it up.

Oh, and i'm with gail on this one, winows does BLOW. That's why i use linux (and get everyone else i know to convert to linux), even if i can't get my tablet to work with it.

BTW, it's a KB Gear - Pablo, internet edition (AKA 'Jam Studio') tablet.
