Could you be more specific? Do you mean you want to install X11 and GNOME? If that's what you want to do, just do:
Code:
apt-get install xserver-xorg
and
Code:
apt-get install gnome
. I haven't used Debian in a while (I use Gentoo now), but I'm pretty sure that's how to do it..

during the install there should have been the option to install the "Desktop Environment" that would have probably been the easiest way.
There is probably a way to get back to that point, but I don't know it...

apt or aptitude. If you've already installed Debian, the easiest way is probably to use the commands I posted before.

Could you post the log, perhaps? That would make it a lot easier to solve your problem. I think the log's in /var/log, but I'm not sure.

Would you happen to have a graphics card installed? Say one the is not intergraded into the motherboard? If so, post you hardware info.

I solved this problem !
after:
Code:
apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-all xserver-xorg-input-all
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
it seems to work well.
greetings
