Compiling Xorg from X.org

Hi,
I would like to compile Xorg package (6.8.1 version) on my Pentium -M Debian(stable+etch) system running 2.6.13 kernel and GNOME installed. I downloaded the source tar ball from ftp.freedesktop.org and read the REAME file.

Now the thing that worries me is that in the README file it says:
"The build tools known to be required include: gcc, make, C library development package, bison, flex, zlib(development package), ncurses(development package), fontconfig(development package), expat(development package) and Perl"

DOes anyone knows the apt-get command to install the above specially the development package ones?

ALso, has anyone has any kind of experience in building Xorg for their debian system. Is there any place where I can find all the dependencies that are required to build the Xorg package. I had tried this couple of times before also., but everytime the compilation fails because some of the other files were missing.

Thank you.

Are you just building for fun? Can't you just pin xorg and install it from the etch repository?

I understand what you are saying, but I am building for some specific purpose and functionality.

Can you please tell how can I achieve this?

Thanks

Well, I would start by using apt-cache search string1 and string2 and start searching the repositories for the packages required. Or use the search tool on the Debian website.

I believe the basics (gcc, make, etc) are in a package called build-essentials or something like that. Then just apt-get install them one by one...
