Compiling from cvs to debian package

I'm trying to compile a program from cvs. The cvs includes a dir named debian so I guess I should be able to compile a package.
I have no idea how to get this packages compiled. Normally I use apt or compile the standard way. Since this cvs does include debian I'd like to try to get a normal package.
Any ideas how to get this done?

Thanks

It's likely that you do ./configure and make in the normal way, then do make deb instead of make install. If the INSTALL or README files don't say anything about it, try looking at the make file to see if there is a deb (or debian, dpkg etc) target.

I'll give it a go. The cvs is browsable so the link is here: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/nget/nget/ perhaps that tells you more.
It's the cvs of Nget which I can't install with apt since I need to patch it to support .NZB files. I see there is a PAR2 section aswell but I've installed that using apt so I guess I can forget about that.

Hm, I can't even get ./configure to go. I guess compiling a cvs tree is a bit different then a tarball. Any suggestions on how to start?

thanks

Well I found that the command should be fakeroot debian/rules binary but although it starts it end just as fast complaining about the no configure file....

Edit:

Got it running now. Had to install autoconf, run sh autogen.sh, and execute fakeroot debian/rules binary.

Let's hope it works after compile!
