choosing locale

Hi,
i don't remember; did we get to choose the locale with base-config before etch? I think so. But what happens after the etch release, where there is no base-config? I bootstraped a system and couldn't set locale... Fortunately i copied some files over from an existing fully installed etch system and worked.

Thnx

I don't know what it was like in the past, but you can use the locale-gen and update-locale scripts to change locale settings. There are also modules for these options in the configure-debian menus.

localpurge is the package which does the job; tried with Sarge. Everything's fine, however the previous patent is nice too
