chkconfig in Debian

i have recetly started using debian and switched over from red hat.

in red hat i used to turn on and off services using the command

chkconfig --level 345 service name on|off

how do i do that in debian

also what is the equivalent of the service command of red hat in debian

like if i want to start NFS in red hat i use the command

service nfs start

what do i do in debian?

remove from bootup: update-rc.d -f nfs remove
add to bootup: update-rc.d nfs defaults
add and set levels: update-rc.d nfs start 20 2 3 4 5 . stop 20 0 1 6 .
You can also use rcconf or sysvconfig.

start something: /etc/init.d/nfs start
stop with: /etc/init.d/nfs stop
