Unhappy characters messed up after installed bootsplash

Hello,
I am running Sarge with a custom 2.6.8.1 kernel which is great.
But after I installed bootsplash, I started to have trouble when editing files in console.
Every time when i hit [enter] key, it will "delete" the following line, and other characters on the screen are messed up. It doesn't delete that line from the file but from the screen, That is if I scroll down and back again, I can find those lines where they should be.
This happens all the time, no matter which editor I am using, and which bootsplash theme and resolution.

I used to run Slackware with a 2.4.X kernel and an old version bootsplash, and nothing went wrong.

I really love the beautiful consoles but with this problem consoles become really USELESS for me. Please help.

Thank you.
