changing desktop to kde in debian 4.0
 
hi there --

i've installed debian 4.0, and have also downloaded the kde desktop. how can i change the default desktop from gnome, the current one, to kde, the preferred one? thanks.

At your gdm logon screen click on sessions. Click on kde. Then gdm will ask you if you want to make kde the default desktop.

You can also avoid installing Gnome during installation if you prefer.
