change text colour under icons in Gnome

Is there a way to change the colour of desktop icon 'names' in Gnome?
I have changed wallpaper to solid, bright colour, so the default 'white text with tiny shadow' is barely visible.

It can be done by adding some line(s) in your ~/.gtkrc-2.0.
That's all I remember though, since I used it years ago
