Change/add window manager to login manager

I just suscesfully compiled kde 3.5.3 without any errors, and now, the problem is how to start it...
I was using KONSTRUCT to build kde.
I am using Debian Sarge 3.1r0a , and by default it has GDM login manager which has list of display manager. But I dont know (tried many things) how to add window manager to that list or remove, or anythin.
...I forgat to say that I installed KDE 3.5.3 to ~/kde-3.5.3 folder.
When I start KDE in GDM it starts old KDE, and I set Eviroment variable as described in Konstruct, so when I type which startkde, I get /home/sorg/kde-3.5.3/bin.

I WANT TO START THAT NEW KDE

I suppose if you've got kdm installed, then change /etc/X11/default-display-manager to reflect /usr/bin/kdm or wherever you installed it. Then try login in from there into your KDE. Not sure, it might work.

Check out the files under /usr/share/xsessions/. There's probably a .desktop file for KDE.

You can copy it to something like /usr/share/xsessions/kde-3.5.3.desktop and then edit this new .desktop file, pointing it to startkde in your local build of KDE.

I changer default window manager to ~/kde3.5.3/bin/kdm , and it starts, but int the list (in KDM) of window managers, I have KDE and when I start it, it starts old kde 3.3.2. Is there any way to change that ?
