I installed a game to try it out and I ended up not liking it so I tried to remove it. I typed from a command line - apt-get --purge remove "package". It went through the motions and I selected yes to uninstall. Apt uninstalled the package, or so I thought. Not only is the program still in my window-maker menu but it stills runs! I really want to get rid of it because I have severely limited hard drive space. Did I do something wrong? I was just following the instructions in an APT HowTo.
try a gui like: kpackage or synaptic; first reinstall it, then make a clean, deorphan... then try to remove either via apt or gui.
I had the same problem with an application, a more radical way of doing this, is to remove desktop manager and reinstall, but that is not the best way, believe me.
