Cannot install openoffice.org.2

New Debian Sarge Installation. I am trying to install OpenOffice.org2 using:

apt-get -t experimental install openoffice.org

I get this:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
openoffice.org2: Depends: openoffice.org2-core (> 1.9.125) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: openoffice.org2-writer but it is not going to be installed
Depends: openoffice.org2-calc but it is not going to be installed
Depends: openoffice.org2-impress but it is not going to be installed
Depends: openoffice.org2-draw but it is not going to be installed
Depends: openoffice.org2-math but it is not going to be installed
Depends: openoffice.org2-base but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

which seems a little silly.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug I should report?

So then I tried this:

Having previously installed OO on Mandrake. I converted the rpm files with Alien but now cannot work out how to put a reference to them in sources.list. Can anybody help?

where's what you need to do

download the open office from the website

www.openoffice.org

and it will be in one file

extract that to create the RPM folder

alien *.rpm

dpkg -i *.deb

that will install it... i forget where it installs it to but You will have to create your own links to the menu for it... i think that it's in opt or lib for some reason.... it isn't too hard to find

I've done this many times on my Dell lappy and it has worked fine... there is also a guide somewhere on openoffice.org's website that specifically deals with debian installations

Thanks. In fact I was browsing this forum and found the Staroffice 8 mini howto which said the same thing.
