Cannot access NTFS or Fat in ArtistX

I've ArtistX (LiveDVD) distro,i cannot access the windows partitions(NTFS & FAT).
Do i need to install ArtistX and if i need to install then how to install frm LiveDVD without disturbing windows , i've kept 11 GB space.
When i try to access windows partition i receive such error,

libhal-storage.c 1401 : called libhal_free_dbus_error but dbuserror was not set.
process 5976: applications must not close shared connections - see dbus_connection_close() docs. this is a bug in the application.
error: device /dev/sda8 is not removable
error: could not execute pmount.

This error happens for each partition as sda6,7, ..... I want to install artistX without disturbing WindowsXP SP2.
My PC configuration is:
PIV 3 GHz , intel 915GAV, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB SATA Harddisk.
Please Help.

ArtistX is Debian-based.

What do the ArtistX developers say about installing it?
