Can not print to HPLJ-6L in Debian Lenny

I am trying to set up cups to print to this parallel printer. However, cups only wants to set up network printers. All of my "Device" options are for network printers, nothing for parallel printers.

Does debian disable parallel ports by default? If so, how do enable the ports?

When running linux, as soon as I put a page in the printer, it feeds the page, and does not print anything. Cups does not show any printers, or any jobs.

I've gotten this printer to work (well, the HP 5L actually, but I'm sure this one will also work). Try installing the package printconf, and then on the command line, as root, run "printconf" . It should find it and configure cups for this printer. Make sure the printer is turned on when doing this.
