Can Debian be reconfigured to have better fault isolation?
On all my Debian machines (Lenny, Squeeze, Wheezy), X Window apps hang often enough to be a real annoyance. When an app hangs, about half the time I can remove it with "kill" from the menu. The other half the time I have to login through another virtual terminal to kill the hung process.
Are there features of the default Debian configuration that could be changed to improve fault isolation for running processes?
(I don't know how bad this problem is compared to other distributions, as I have only used Debian for the past few years.)
