Can't install flash plugin

I tried apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree. It tries to get the latest version from a URL that I've confirmed not to be working.

So, I don't have a flash plugin, and I've also run out of the options that I'm aware of.

Anyone have a source for a deb flash package?

Are you talking about http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get...7_linux.tar.gz? Many people's DNS servers intermittenly have trouble resolving "fpdownload.macromedia.com" for some reason, but it works if you replace it with "fpdownload.macromedia.com.edgekey.net".

Thanks for that information. Unfortunately, the flashplugin-nonfree is just an installer, and I don't know of any way to change the URL it surfs to.

How did other debian users get flash installed for mozilla? Other people must have done it.

Thanks,
Dan

Download it from here:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downl...ShockwaveFlash

follow the instructions (pretty straight forward)

Well, I guess I'll have to do that, but then it isn't a package that I can manipulate with apt-get.

Thanks, though, just thought there'd be a smooth debian way to do this.

As far as I remember when you install "flashplugin-nonfree" the configuration script looks for the file locally first.

What repository are you using? I have never had trouble installing flash.

Sppon is correct you can tell the apt-get "flashplugin-nonfree" to look for the loacl file if you download the install from macromedia/adobe.
