Can't get past 800x600 resolution on Sarge
I read the post install configuration but I can't find exactly what I'm looking for. I think the reason I'm lost is due to my inexperience with linux itself. I successfully installed debian on my machine, but the resolution is stuck at 800x600. When I tried changing it in the gnome control panel the maximum res I could get was stuck at 800x600. I know I have to edit a configuration file somewhere, but I don't know exactly where it may be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Log in as root, open a console, and type "# dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86" without the quotes. It will ask you a bunch of questions about your display, and in there it allows you to set the screen resolution. I have tried numerous times to get the nvidea drivers working, but never could. this is what I did to get a 1024x768 screen resolution.
Good luck! :study: |
