Can't find X includes

hi when i m trying compiling kopete in Debian after ./configure
i got this error massage

"checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!"

i think i need libxfree86-devel package or something else like that but what ?

i'm still using mdk and i've gotten this error massage in mdk and i solved it with installing libxorg-devel coz mdk 10.1 uses xorg but i think Debian sarge is using XFree86 isnt it? so i need libxfree86-devel package isnt it or what else?

when i was using mdk , i got this error massage after error massage that is above

"checking for KDE... configure: error:
in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail.
So, check this please and use another prefix!"

and i solved this problem with installing libkde-devel package in mdk. But how can solve this problem in Debian ? what do i need ?
