Can't detect usb devices??
I've installed the stable Debian sarge. And i got to admit i'm amazed by it. Anyways, I'm trying to detect two of my usb devices: samsung ML-1710 printer and HPScanjet5300c scanner. But hotplug hangs at usb and there is no entry at
/proc/bus/usb. hotplug output: $ /etc/init.d/hotplug start Starting hotplug subsystem: pci amd64-agp: already loaded pciehp: already loaded shpchp: already loaded r8169: already loaded sata_promise: already loaded ohci1394: already loaded sata_via: already loaded via82cxxx: already loaded uhci-hcd: already loaded uhci-hcd: already loaded uhci-hcd: already loaded uhci-hcd: already loaded ehci-hcd: already loaded via82cxxx_audio: already loaded snd-via82xx: already loaded ignoring pci display device 01:00.0 pci [success] usb Then i ran discover start but also hangs. I'm using kernel 2.6.8-2-386. Can anyone suggest what to be done? Thanks. |

For the HP you can install the HP drivers. Either from here HP Linux Inkjet Driver Project or by looking through Synaptic.
Have you tried looking here LinuxPrinting.org? |
I was trying to do exactly this webpage told me to do:
http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-mini/...-Printing.html But i donno what device to use in place of parallel:/dev/lp0 Any ideas? |
I fixed the problem. I downgraded from kernel 2.6 to 2.4 now everything's fine.
