can't access dvd drive as non root user

Hi Folks,

I have Deb 4.0 as a desktop m/c just runs openoffice etc. I tried to play a music cd but I get a popup which says read error make sure you have access to /dev/hdd.

So I logged in as root and did chown paul /dev/hdd

I still get the same error. Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks
Greeb

Also you should set the permissions of /dev/hdd to 777. If /devhdd is mentioned in /etc/fstab then the fstab parameters should include "user".
