BusyBox - Can't access tty; job control turned off - lenny

Hi everybody!

I have installed Lenny 5.08 on old laptop Dell Latitude c600 three months ago. Everything was working fine until few days ago when I got the message:

BusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 1:1.10.2-2) built-in shell (ash)

/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

I have tried with live CD to get my data, but couldn't.

I have posted this question on several Debian forums, but nobody still answer. Can somebody help me with this problem? Is it possible to reinstall or repair Lenny without loosing data on hard disc?

Thank you for cooperation!

Hello,

Before I get too deep into this, have you performed any hardware maintenance around the same time this message started appearing?

Also, see here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ed-off-474493/

Cheers,

Josh

Just to update the messages that I'm getting. I'm retyping them:

Decompressing Linux... Parsing ELF... done.
Booting the kernel.
Loading, please wait...
kinit: name_to_dev_t(/dev/hda5) = hda5(3,5)
kinit: trying to resume from /dev/hda5
kinit: No resume image, doing normal boot...
[ 8.524761] EXT3-fs: error loading journal.
mount: mounting /dev/hda1 on /root failed: Invalid argument
mount: mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: No such file or directory
Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init.
No init found. Try passing init= bootarg.

BusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 1:1.10.2-2) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
(initramfs)

I should retype this at the beginning, probably this is more descriptive. Hope it will help.

I started installation cd and choose: graphical rescue mode (guided from: http://www.debian.org/releases/stabl...h08s07.html.en).

Followed instructions I came up to a point where I have to choose device to use as root file system

Device to use as root file system:
/dev/hda1
/dev/hda2
/dev/hda5
/dev/hda6

If I choose hda1, hda2 or hda5 I'm getting message:

Mount failed
An error occured while mounting the device you entered for your root file system (/dev/hda5) on target.
Please check syslog for more information.

Choosing hda6:

Rescue operations:

Execute a shell in /dev/hda6
Execute a shell in the installer environment
Choose a different root file system
Reboot the system

By choosing first option:
No shell found in /target
No usable shell was found on your root file system (/dev/hda6)

Second option:
Interactive shell in the installer environment

BusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 1:1.10.2-2) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

typing help:
Built-in commands:
. : [ [[ bg break cd chdir command continue echo eval exec exit export false fg getopts hash help jobs kill let local pwd read readonly return set shift source test times trap true type ulimit umask unset wait

What to do next?
