Burning CD's with Debian-Knoppix k3b

Hello again,...........

For the past hour I have been trying to be able to use my cdrecord with k3b. The problem I get is when I am ready to begin the burning process and then I get a message saying that the program has not found any available writers even though in the settings panel I see the cdrecorder 'ticked' available.

At first I thought was a problem of permission, but the program has a default group called 'burning' - o I enabled it and I added the user to that group....... And still nothing.....

Now I would like to know how I can overcome this problem and how can I manually set up all the necessary configuration files in order to get it working as well the 'cdrecord' program.

Thanks.......

Hi,

Which linux kernel do you use? If it is 2.6.8 or 2.6.8.1, k3b won't work with that, you can see at http://www.k3b.org in news section. I also had the same problem, so I changed to kernel 2.6.7 to make k3b work.

Hopefully it will work in your machine :)

Hi dun_noe, thanks for the reply.

Tyhe kernel I am using is the good-old 2.4.26 ( which runs perfectly for what I have and need... ).

I am aware that for these kernels, I have to have compiled or as modules, the scsi and cd emulations in order for it to work.

So my interest is to get a nice walkthrough that tells step-by-step the propoer way to configure it.....

Thanks again,..........
