building a software raid 5 array

I built a raid 5 array with 4 disk (two 160gig's, one 163gig (mdadm complained this drive was over 1% larger than the rest I just assumed that was for my knowledge?), and a 250gig drive that I partitioned to be a 160gig) I just want to verify I didn't make any mistakes and that all is well.

I partitioned all the disk with fdisk, then ran `mdadm --create /dev/md1 --level=5 --raid-devices=4 /dev/hd[aceg]1`

Then I ran mkfs.ext3 /dev/md1

is that it? am I done? should I have made some other provisions?

Thanks in advance!

raid 5

The only thing i would have changed is to make the 163 gb partition into a 160 gb partition. I know this may not cause any problems as its running now, but im pretty pithy about that sort of stuff and try not to allow too many problems occur down the track

Just looking through some of the docs now, and you should be okay so long as you didnt specify the -grow option when u built the array.

Yeah, I'm usually just like you... I just wanted to see if it would handle it and it was easier to just accept the defaults for that drive.

Nope didn't use the -grow option.

Thanks for looking!
