Bootpartition problem

I never had any trouble with grub but now it's driving me mad! I also never used a boot partition before so it must have to do with that.
I created a boot partition (its' ext2 I read somewhere that I shouldn't use xfs for boot, is that true?)
All the rest is xfs (/ usr etc)

My grub look like this:

title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.6
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.6 root=/dev/hda2 ro
savedefault
boot

title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.4.25-1-386
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.25-1-386 root=/dev/hda2 ro
initrd /initrd.img-2.4.25-1-386
savedefault
boot

Always worked just fine but now I get a: file not found. What the f... the file is there, right name etc......I'm starting to dislike this whole boot partition thing less and less even though it's supposed to be safer. Any clues would be very welcome, I want to boot 2.6.6 and move on with installing deb.

Oh, the 2.4 kernel uses a symbolic link that points to /boot/vm... I hate those and just want grub to boot straight from boot.

Regards

does the 2.4 kernel work? You could done something wrong compiling that kernel (you have compiled it yourself I suppose, as it is a 2.6.6).

Why make such a hassle about the symbolic link? I think you could replace the symbolic link with the file it points to.

Keep your head cool, that could already help a lot .

Compiling was the problem indeed. I forgot I didn't use XFS on my last deb install. So I used my old .config. A quick kernel recompile and XFS booted just fine!

thanx
