Question Booting Knoppix 3.3 - Passing an Undefined mode number

Hello LinuxQuestions,

When i boot Knoppix 3.3 i get a message:

You passed an undefined mode number.
Press <RETURN> to see video modes available, <SPACE> to continue or wait 30 secs

i then hit <RETURN> to see the available modes, the following comes up:

Video adapter: VESA VGA
Mode: COLSxROWS:
0 0F00 80X25
1 0F01 80X50
2 0F02 80X43
3 0F03 80X28
4 0F05 80X30
5 0F06 80X34
6 0F07 80X60

I always choose 0, and it works well. Is there any way of making the selection automatic? Which line of which file do i need to change and in which way?

Thanks

try to add
Code:
vga=normal
to /etc/lilo.conf and restart lilo.
Also check if there is a line called
Code:
vga=ask
already. If so change it to the one above ...

After that, reboot.

Thanks, I tried that now, and the same thing came up. Any other Ideas?

looks like it is a framebuffer problem. Read the lilo.conf manual and the framebuffer manuals. As I don't use framebuffer, I can't help you ...
