Best way to move /var?

If I try moving /var to another partition, am I going to run into /var/run and /var/lock not being found issues? I remember a long time ago moving /var to another partition and having such issues, but I can't remember if they were Ubuntu or Debian issues.

Or add "init = /bin/bash" to your boot line in grub. Then, you will need to remount the root parition read-wrote with:
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /
