best place to get debian?

where is the best(easiest) place to download Debian? I've been to the debian website and it's a little confusing. Jigdo isn't giving me the prompts I expect. Perhaps I am not pointing to the correct files. In the powerpc folder at the us.cdimage.debian.org site there are alot of things(debian-3, woody-NONUS, woody, etc.) and I'm not sure what I need to get a system installed. Help please. Since we're here: I am looking to download and eventually try a couple of other systems to, perhaps, replace this RH9. I'm thinking Debian and Mandrake to start. Any other suggestions? What's SuSE like? And is it pronounced 'Sooz'(as I've heard one person say it) or 'Susy'(as I prefer to say it)? thanks. :Pengy: Also, I am using a Dell CPx Latitude(J650) Laptop and an HP 2410 printer/scanner that has had problems with RH9 updates and such.

Go to Linux ISO - they have loads of distros to download.

The powerpc architecture includes machines such as Macintosh G3/G4 and the IBM RS/6000. If you intend to use Debian on your Dell laptop you'll want to download the i386 versions instead.

You can grab just the first CD, debian-30r1-i386-binary-1.iso, and install Debian from that CD. Then you can set up apt-get/dselect (Debian package management tools) to install everything else directly from your local FTP mirror (that's one of Debian's most popular features).

Alternatively, you can download a minimal (either 186mb or 50-80mb ISO CD image, depending on whether you want stable or testing/unstable) installer that will use your network connection to download what it needs. Try http://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/ - there are some download links there.
