Auto starting daemons

Does anyone know the command the you use to create symbolic links to /etc/init.d/ from /etc/rc.d* so that the daemon start in the default runlevels. All I can remember is that is has rc.d or rcd at the end of it. Thanks

Was it
Code:
update-rc.d daemon defaults
to add something and
Code:
update-rc.d daemon remove
to remove?

-just an idea, since I don't have a Debian box around so I can't check that out if you trust my memory (I don't, always), go ahead and try.

Yup, that's right, though the full useage options are:

Quote:
usage: update-rc.d [-n] [-f] <basename> remove
update-rc.d [-n] <basename> defaults [NN | sNN kNN]
update-rc.d [-n] <basename> start|stop NN runlvl [runlvl] [...] .
-n: not really
-f: force

Thanks for the quick reply. I was losing my hair trying to figure it out and I could put together the proper search terms for google to tell me.
