authenticating domain users

How to get KDM or GDM to authenticate users against a linux domain controller. We are using a ClarkConnect PDC.I got windows users to authenticate and got linux users to join the domain. But I need to have the users to logon to the workstations using their user IDs and passwors kept in the PDC.

Hi -

I don't know about ClarkConnect...
... but, in general...

Linux supports "PAM's" - "pluggable Authentication Modules" so you can substitue LDAP for /etc/passwd (for example). I believe whatever you need to do for ClarkConnect is similar to what you'd need to do for OpenLDAP or AciveDirectory.

Here are a few links that might help:

Hello

Thanks for the quick help and great links. I used the configuration explained in the first link:
http://www.debuntu.org/ldap-server-a...x-ldap-clients
and I was able to get a linux PC to authenticate using GDM. I will try KDM later.

I had some little problems as follows:

1- I have to put dhcdbd and nm-applet off and use normal dhcp setup instead.
2- When I disconnect the lan connection, the system takes long time to show GDM logon screen, around 10-15 minutes. This does not happen with XP.
3- The sound is deactivated for the remote users.

Thanks again.
