Attempt at Install makes me without an OS
Hi
I was trying to install Debian 3.1 (sarge) on my WinXP/Suse dual boot In windows, i deleted the suse partitions This is what i did to uninstall solaris a few months ago Anyways, I ran into problems in debian installation, so i aborted, without writing anythind to the hard drive (which it didnt even see in the first place!!!) So, now, the Grub which was left over from Suse, just gives an error. Windows is there, but inaccessible. Right now, i am using Knoppix. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET BACK INTO WINDOWS XP??? thanks in advance for any help |
This happened to me before.
You have two options: 1) If you can find a way to edit your grub config file, then you'll need to ensure that there is a reference to windows, and that it is the default. 2) If you have your windows install cd, boot with it and you can go into a recovery console. Once in recovery console type 'help' and you'll see a command to fix the master boot record; its something like 'fixmbr' or 'mbrfix' Don't panic, i do not think you've lost anything... |
well, i put the windows disk in,
and i go into recovery mode, and asks for my administrator password, which i never set!!! HELP!!! |
i installed solaris 10,
and now i can boot into windows thanks for your help |
